Exhibiting artist Deborah Kelly, will be visiting RMOA in celebration of the opening of Between the Details: Video Art from the ACMI Collection. Deborah is a Melbourne-born, Sydney-based artist of mixed settler ancestry. Her works have been shown around Australia and elsewhere. For a decade she has been working with groups of strangers in cities around the world to make experiential collaborations emphasising process, community and aesthetic intensity. Kelly's works are concerned with lineages of representation, politics and history in public exchange, and practices of collectivity both epic and intimate.
Exhibiting artist Virginia Cuppaidge, will be visiting RMOA in celebration of the opening of Collection Focus: Women. Born in Brisbane, Virginia Cuppaidge studied in Sydney with Desiderous Orban, Stanislaus Rapotec, Marea Gazzard, John Olsen and Robert Klippel before moving to New York in 1969 to ‘see the best abstract art going on at the time and live in the art museums.’ Although Cuppaidge has lived in New York for more than forty years, she has come to the realisation that her abstract work is routed in her Australian experience – she believes the Australian landscape is in her system.
