Join us for Darumbal Storytime at Rockhampton Zoo this school holidays! 

This special session at Rockhampton Zoo is aimed at children up to 6 years of age and includes a story and a craft activity.

Delivered regularly at Rockhampton Museum of Art, Darumbal Storytime fosters knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture through Darumbal language. This interactive program features hands-on learning experiences including story, song, dance, art and craft. 

Darumbal Storytime engages and supports Darumbal teachers, Elders and community to develop programs that encourage community participation, exposure and increase awareness of Darumbal living culture as told by Elders and cultural leaders.

 

Location: Rockhampton Botanic Gardens and Zoo is located at 100 Spencer Street, Rockhampton. Please meet at the kangaroo enclosure(PDF, 1MB) for this program. 

 

What to bring:

  • hat
  • sunscreen
  • sun safe clothes
  • waterbottle (no water is available inside the Zoo)

No gumboots or flurescent clothing when visiting the zoo.

About the Artist Educator

Darumbal Language Lessons are facilitated by Darumbal people or Representative from Darumbal People Aboriginal Corporation Registered Native Title Body (DPAC RNTBC) on behalf of the Darumbal People.
